From 25–27 November 2025, the BENTHORcube powered by Xentara will be live on display at SPS at the Advantech booth – with software-based control and the opportunity to experience laser marking on-site.
From 25 to 27 November 2025, the SPS – Smart Production Solutions will take place in Nuremberg – one of Europe’s leading trade fairs for automation technology. While BenThor automation will not be exhibiting directly, one of our core product innovations will be presented live on site: the BENTHORcube powered by Xentara.
The BENTHORcube is a standardized, compact laser engraving and marking cell for materials such as steel, aluminum, plastic, wood, and ceramics. Its standout feature is the control system: Instead of a conventional PLC, the machine uses the real-time capable, modular automation platform Xentara – developed by Munich-based software provider embedded ocean GmbH.
This platform enables hardware-independent control, flexible programming (e.g. in C++) and an integrated web-based HMI built on WebSocket/WebAssembly. For BenThor, this means: more standardization, lower costs, and long-term scalability – particularly for serial production of standardized special machines.
The BENTHORcube will be showcased at Advantech’s partner booth (Hall 7, Booth 380) during SPS 2025 – operated and demonstrated by our software partner Xentara. Visitors will gain insights into the machine’s control system and HMI – and can watch a laser marking being applied live to a workpiece.
Key reasons for selecting Xentara as the control platform include:
Reduced hardware dependency and small footprint
Programming in high-level languages like C++ instead of PLC code
Customizable HMI using modern web technologies
Open interfaces for modular system expansion
Simple maintenance through software-based updates
This results in faster development cycles, improved adaptability, and lower operating costs.
With the BENTHORcube, BenThor automation demonstrates how software-defined control and modular machine design can be brought into serial production in the field of special-purpose machinery. The presentation at SPS – together with Xentara and Advantech – underlines our commitment to integrating modern technology into practical industrial applications.
